Open Source Software: Evaluating the issues, opportunities and challenges of I.T. Implementation in an increasingly competitive global environment
PURPOSE: This seminar will provide a forum for discussion of developing a sustainable model for IT development in the private and public sectors. The costs and benefits of implementation of Free and/or Open Source Software (F/OSS) as a foundation of such a framework will be evaluated.
TARGET GROUP: Senior decision makers within the private and public sector who deal with I.T matters and/or the cost of I.T. implementation within their organizations; I.T educators and professional trainers; I.T. practitioners, Chief Technical officers (CTO) and Chief Information officers(CIO); other stakeholders in corporate/enterprise I.T. sector
OBJECTIVES: To provide an awareness of the issues of software licensing, the availability of alternatives in F/OSS and the benefits of F/OSS adoption.
